Flint Public Art Project presents Half a Million Dollars of Art

FLINT (WJRT) – (10/26/16) – The Flint Public Art Project is planning to unveil its latest, over the top spectacle and it’s using a rather unusual canvas.

Saturday afternoon, the old House of Spencer Mortuary on University Avenue will be covered with more than half a million dollars worth of art.

The artist behind it is Flint Central High School graduate Anthony Eve Kemp, who splits his time between Los Angeles and his hometown.

The pieces will be up for sale, with proceeds going toward renovations for what’s now known as the Spencer Art House and Kemp’s own Spark Art Project for kids.

“I really had a vision to come back to Flint, and really give something back to the community. I feel like we can beautify it, it deserves it. It’s been hard hit with the water crisis and that’s not what Flint’s all about,” Kemp said.

A meet and greet is scheduled for Friday night.
